Taconic Opera continues to celebrate its 20th Anniversary season
Taconic Opera continues to celebrate its 20th Anniversary season with another exciting event in April. Back by popular demand, two matinees of a new production of Giuseppe Verdi’s Un Ballo in Maschera will be held on Saturday April 7, 2018, at 3:30 pm, and Sunday, April 8, 2018, at 2:00 pm at the Yorktown Stage, 1974 Commerce St., Yorktown Heights. It is truly Verdi at his finest. Nothing compares to being at a live production and experiencing up close the thrilling, fully professional cast and orchestra, without all the fuss, time and expense of traveling too far from home. This amazing masterpiece is both buoyant and tragic. It tells the story of a king secretly in love with his best friend’s wife. They enlist the help of a witch to deal with their feelings. The husband discovers the truth and decides to join a group planning on the king’s assassination. The music is arguably the best Verdi ever composed. It moves from humor to calamity without allowing us to catch a breath, and then sweeps us away in one of the most compelling love duets ever written. A wide range of ticket prices are available: $27-$59, $7 reduction for seniors, a family of four for $75 (all ages). To encourage youth attendance, student prices are only $15 regardless of seating selection. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit the company website at www.taconicopera.org or call the toll-free number: (855) 88-OPERA (855-886-7372).

The event is a fundraiser to support the performances of Hudson Chorale which each year presents two programs of great music. Artists include Mirijana Kocho, Penny Cassar, Diane Churchill, Lea Carmichael, Howell Murray, Julie Kelly, Fia Hill, Christine Blatt and more. They will be joined by award-winning composer, arranger, producer and keyboardist Kinny Landrum (www.KinnyLandrum.com), classical guitarist George Attisano whose repertoire spans several centuries and varieties of styles, and singers for this celebration of beauty and melody. Tickets are $45 each and are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.
